The Carpet Bowls Club meets in the Main Hall on Monday and Thursday afternoons from 1:45 pm to 4.15 pm. Sessions are split into two: The first session consisting of two games of five ends each and the second session of two games, first game of five ends and the second as many ends as time allows. In between the two sessions, tea and biscuits are served. We have the space for four carpets, so everyone gets to play for the whole session.
The Club is affiliated to the Essex County Carpet Bowls Association and competes in the Essex Winter League in the Chelmsford East Area. Between September and March, league matches are played on a home and away basis with clubs in the Chelmsford area. Matches are played in the evenings, home matched being played normally on a Thursday evening. The Club also plays friendly matches in the summer with clubs from surrounding villages, again in the evening.
The club members have varied levels of skill and experience, and club sessions are arranged so that all members benefit from being randomly matched for their games.
An internal competition is arranged which runs through the course of the year in which all members are encouraged to play, the finals being played just before Christmas combined with a social event. A further social event is normally held towards the end of the year in the hall.
All equipment is supplied, and the tea and biscuit are free. If you are interested, please come along to one of our afternoon sessions. You will be very welcome. You can also fill in the Contact Us form below and we shall be in touch.
